Starting today, VMware Workstation and VMware Fusion are available for free on both personal and commercial environments. This shift means VMware has discontinued its paid Pro versions, and the free applications now include all the features previously available in the Pro versions.
VMware Workstation has been updated with support for Windows 11 23H2, Server 2025, Ubuntu 24.04 and Fedora 40. Also, the vmcli command-line tool allows users to create new virtual machines, VM templates, power on VMs, and more settings through direct access to the hypervisor.
VMware Workstation lets you run Windows, Linux, and a host of other operating systems side-by-side on the same PC. Switch between OS instantly, share files between VMs with drag-and-drop functionality, create clones and more.
